The second Museum Acquisition continues the Museum’s study of clothing as a living record.

The overcoat incorporates a printed fragment of Undine Giving the Ring to Massaniello, Fisherman of Naples, exhibited in 1846 by J. M. W. Turner. Rather than reproducing the painting in full, a selected detail is held within the garment—a trace of the original work, removed from its familiar setting and given another life through cloth.

100% washed linen is cut in a relaxed, single-breasted silhouette. The overcoat is defined by peak lapels, a three-button closure, working button cuffs, and slanted welt pockets. A washed 100% cotton lining brings a sense of heritage.

The lower hem is intentionally left unfinished, recalling the exposed edges of aged textiles and preserved objects. It reveals something of the garment’s construction while allowing the edge to soften and develop its own character through wear.

Museum Acquisition II is individually handcrafted and released in select regional editions of no more than five garments. Each regional edition is individually numbered and will not be reproduced once complete. Every piece is accompanied by an Acquisition Card recording its edition number, region, and authenticity.

Every textile is carefully prepared prior to construction, allowing the material to settle naturally before it is transformed into a finished garment. This considered process reflects our commitment to slow craftsmanship and enduring quality.

Size measurements

Shoulder: 46 cm
Chest: 60 cm
Length: 113 cm
Sleeve length: 61 cm

Due to the handmade nature of each garment, slight variations in measurement may occur. These subtle differences are part of the individual character of each piece.

Care

Dry clean only.

Each garment is carefully folded for packaging and transport. Upon arrival, gentle steaming is recommended to release travel creases and allow the linen to settle naturally before wear. As a natural fibre, linen will continue to develop soft creases through use. These are embraced as part of the garment's evolving character and are not considered imperfections.

Policies

At Alchemilla Artifacts, every garment is handcrafted in small batches using natural materials and artisanal production methods. We embrace the unique character that emerges through this process, and no two pieces are exactly alike.

Because of the limited nature of our production and the handmade construction of our garments, all sales are final. We do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Change of mind
  • Incorrect size selection
  • Preference regarding fit, drape, color, or texture
  • Natural variations in fabric, print placement, stitching, or finish
  • Minor irregularities inherent to handcrafted production

Please review all product descriptions, measurements, and garment details carefully before placing your order. If you have any questions regarding sizing or construction, we encourage you to contact us prior to purchase.

Alchemilla Artifacts works exclusively with natural fibers and handcrafted processes. Variations in texture, color, print placement, stitching details, and other characteristics are not considered defects. Rather, they are part of the individuality and authenticity of each piece.
