Alchemilla Artifacts is a slow clothing "museum" devoted to handmade clothing and the stories garments gather over time. Drawing its name from Alchemilla, Latin for "little alchemist," the brand is rooted in transformation: turning humble natural fibres into pieces that continue to change with the people who wear them.

Every garment is handcrafted in small batches using natural materials such as linen, cotton, and wool. Rather than resisting age, we welcome it. Wrinkles, fading, wear, and the quiet patina that develops through use are not imperfections to be hidden, but part of a garment's history. Like the artifacts that inspire us, each piece becomes more complete with time.

Our work is inspired by historical art, museum collections, and heritage craftsmanship. We are drawn to asymmetry, restraint, and honest construction over decoration. Every detail exists with purpose, allowing the material, silhouette, and passage of time to speak for themselves.

About the Designer

Dennis Hwang believes that every material has a life of its own.

Long before he began making clothing, he spent more than a decade working in analytical laboratories, where precision was measured not only by results, but by observation. Day after day, he studied how natural materials responded to time, environment, and process. He learned that the most meaningful transformations are rarely forced. They are guided through patience, understanding, and respect for the material itself.

That philosophy followed him beyond the laboratory. While building a skincare brand, he developed a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship and the quiet transformation of simple ingredients. Later, working as a menswear Style Advisor, he gained an intimate understanding of how clothing moves with the body, how it is lived in, and how the smallest details shape the experience of wearing a garment.

His curiosity eventually led him to sewing and pattern making, an experience that continues to shape the way he designs today. He approaches every Museum Acquisition with the same analytical mindset that guided his years in the laboratory, allowing the material itself to guide each piece. Rather than imposing an idea upon the cloth, he works with its natural character, believing that thoughtful design begins by understanding the material.

This way of thinking became the foundation of Alchemilla Artifacts.
